Summer Prep Work
You’re Crazy! Are you nuts? Yes, Buck Nuts!!! Thus was the way the conversation started between Cory and I this past week. He was looking for some more manpower to set up some elevated box blinds in strategic areas of the properties on the weekend. Problem was the temps were to be in the mid 90’s with very high dew points. But, all of us here at High Tines Outfitters have the passion for improving the properties to better the odds of getting that big buck within range for somebody to take their trophy of a lifetime.
So, with plenty of liquids in the cooler, lumber, tools, skidsteer, and ATV’s, Cory, Dan, Todd began Saturday morning loading equipment onto trailers and trucks and put up one of the elevated box blind themselves,
and then I met them at another property
where we put up two more. With the high temps and high dew points we were trying to replace the fluids as fast as the body was leaking them out. But as it always seems to happen, the second one gave us a lot of trouble getting it just right and we worked until
dark. We left all of the equipment at the farm and hit the local watering hole for a couple of cool ones and some supper.
On the way home the windows kept fogging up with the air-conditioning running and the high humidity outside. 
Once home the cool shower felt
great! Sunday morning with temps already in the mid 80’s and dewpoints in the mid 70’s we met back at the farm and loaded up and drove to the next farm where we moved two more elevated box blinds to spots overlooking the new food plots. The skidsteer was a
life saver. The food plots are looking good. A little spraying is need on a few but overall they should really draw the deer in this fall. Minerals are being hammered hard and there is plenty of water in the waterholes. We will also be adjusting the location of some of the hang on stands due to crop rotation and information gathered from the guides, trail cameras and local residents.
So if you are “Buck Nuts” and looking for your buck of a lifetime, this is the year you are going to want to book a hunt. The spots will fill fast with all the improvements that are being done to the properties.
